Some Bad Poetry

Darwin was Right

When I went to the church
And saw the conviction
The faith, the sincerity, the devotion
And the lack of questions

When I went to the streets
And saw the rich in their luxury
Drive by the poor in the gutter
With not a second thought

When I went to the office
And saw the clever engineer
Talk proudly about his latest bomb design
Righteous and brightly confident

When I went to the polls
And saw the frightend people
Led by articulate, confident, handsome leaders
To cause further terror, destruction and mayhem

I knew – Darwin was right
We are, but intelligent monkeys

In the end it was not the DNA analysis
(which I do not understand)
Nor the anthropology
(which also I do not understand)
But the behavior
That convinced me.

Darwin was right
We are, but intelligent monkeys
